Part-Time Accountant / Startup Tax & Compliance Specialist

Trace is hiring a remote part-time accountant to support bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax documentation, Delaware C-Corp compliance, AP/AR, reconciliations, and startup financial operations.

What you'll do

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting records
  • Maintain accurate records of income, expenses, invoices, receipts, reimbursements, vendor and contractor payments
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, payment platforms, and financial accounts
  • Prepare monthly financial reports including P&L, balance sheets, cash flow summaries, and budget tracking
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
  • Support U.S. federal and Delaware state tax compliance
  • Track Delaware C-Corp obligations including franchise tax, annual reports, and state filings
  • Support payroll, contractor payments, W-9 collection, and 1099 preparation
  • Help improve accounting systems, expense categories, and internal financial controls
  • Monitor burn rate, runway, vendor spend, and operating expenses
  • Coordinate with outside tax advisors, legal counsel, and financial platforms

What we're looking for

  • Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation, or financial operations
  • Strong understanding of U.S. tax law and startup accounting
  • Familiarity with Delaware C-Corp compliance and state tax obligations
  • Experience with AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Comfortable working with early-stage startups
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work remotely and communicate clearly
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or similar
  • CPA license or willingness to pursue Delaware CPA eligibility preferred

Nice to have

  • Active Delaware CPA license
  • Experience with venture-backed startups or technology companies
  • Experience supporting fundraising, investor reporting, or due diligence
  • Experience with payroll systems and multi-state compliance
  • Familiarity with SaaS, hardware, or manufacturing companies
